The purpose of this post is to support with the delivery of DMU’s student mobility programme, DMU Global. The role requires the post holder to coordinate and support a range of overseas, online and on-campus international opportunities that enhance the student experience and internationalise our students.  

The role is working 37 hours per week on a hybrid basis. The role will start as soon as possible with a current end date of 20/12/2024.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Coordinating and supporting the delivery of overseas trips for DMU students throughout the year, managing a portfolio of different opportunities including academic-led trips, volunteering and employability experiences.
  • Supporting the design and delivery of a range of online and on-campus international experiences with an academic, cultural and employability focus.
  • Working closely with faculties and directorates, supporting staff to develop and improve the quality of opportunities, as well as providing proactive support about DMU Global policies and processes.
  • Preparing students for their international experience by providing advice and guidance regarding all practical planning associated with overseas travel, including the provision of accurate visa advice. This will include coordinating and delivering pre-departure briefing sessions for students.
  • Overseeing the student journey, utilising appropriate systems and processes to manage large numbers of applications to ensure a consistently high-quality student experience.
  • Contributing to the promotion and marketing of DMU Global opportunities to effectively engage with DMU students. This may include, but is not limited to, delivering presentations, lecture shouts, drop-in sessions and other engagement activities.
  • Supporting DMU’s Disability Support Office to ensure opportunities are accessible to all, and implement adjustments to enable students to participate.
  • Cooperating with a range of internal stakeholders as part of the delivery of DMU Global opportunities, including but not limited to Marketing and Communications, De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU), Security and Events.
  • Acting as a primary point of contact for all enquiries related to all DMU Global opportunities, via phone, email and face-to-face for students and staff.
  • Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with DMU’s travel provider, supporting Trip Leads and finance teams in managing bookings of travel, accommodation, activities and reasonable adjustments.
  • Responsibility for making student bursary payments via DMU’s finance software in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Responsibility for raising purchase orders on financial systems, particularly related to travel for students and staff, plus administering and processing internal and external payments to students, staff and suppliers.
  • Participate in DMU Global and university-wide engagement events including Open Days.

Skills and experience

  • Educated to degree level or with equivalent qualification or experience
  • Experience of working in an international environment
  • Previous experience of working with university students in or with the Higher Education sector
  • Experience of working as part of a team in a customer-focused environment
  • Experience in carrying out complex administrative tasks in a busy office environment
  • Experience of internationalisation activities, including student mobility, foreign language provision and/or overseas travel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to convey issues concisely and clearly
  • Ability to communicate and engage with students using a variety of marketing and promotion strategies
  • Meticulous attention to detail
