The work will take place in two stages.
During Autumn 2026, the RA will primarily focus on mapping existing initiatives and opportunities for engagement, and undertaking an initial literature scoping and evidence collection exercises. During Spring 2027, the RA will support the Commission in developing, refining and disseminating its evidence-collection instruments – including interview and survey questions – and its emerging results, including with external stakeholders.
The role will involve working closely with the Commission's academic team and will provide an opportunity to contribute to an ongoing, policy-facing project concerned with the future of the social sciences.
Duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will work with the Commission team on a range of activities:
• Undertaking literature and evidence scoping, including searches for major academic publications, reports, reviews and grey literature relevant to the future of the social sciences
• Mapping relevant initiatives and opportunities for engagement, including identifying existing conferences, workshops, consultations, employer and parliamentary events, or evidence-gathering exercises that the Commission could potentially contribute to
• Assisting in developing semi-structured questions for short micro-interviews
• Assisting in developing questions for a short micro-survey
• Supporting the development of materials for potential focus groups with University of Warwick staff and PGRs
• Supporting communications and publications designed for external partners and the public
Skills and experience
We are looking for someone with:
• Experience of conducting literature or desk-based research
• Strong research skills

It would be advantageous to have:
• Experience of qualitative research methods, including interviews or focus groups
• Experience of survey design
• Experience of working with grey literature and policy reports
• Experience of working with stakeholders outside academia.
