Role
The central Student Experience and Engagement Directorate is seeking a group of home and international students to join our team from 7 December 2026 to 30 October 2027 in the first instance, working flexibly alongside their studies.
This position is open to all current University of Warwick home and international students on Undergraduate (including those in their final year), Postgraduate Taught Masters and Postgraduate Research courses. We welcome applications from all academic departments, cultural backgrounds, nationalities and underrepresented communities.
As a Global Student Ambassador (GSA), you will represent Warwick’s global community and help shape the experience of Warwick’s global community. You will be part of a diverse, dynamic team, working across events, research and digital projects that connect students and enhance support at Warwick.
When applying, choose one or two specialist streams that best match your skills and interests (and mention why in your cover letter). All ambassadors collaborate across projects throughout the year. You will not be strictly allocated to the stream you choose.
- Events & Community Engagement Stream: for those who love connecting with people and bringing energy to campus life. You will help run events and activities that welcome, celebrate and support students. From the International Student Buddy Scheme, International Student Hub and Welcome Week to Global Lounge events and the January Welcome Reception, you will help every student feel part of Warwick’s global community from day one.
- Research & Co-Creation Stream: for those who enjoy analysing, improving and designing things that make a difference. You will contribute to projects that directly improve the global student journey, helping evaluate digital resources and policies. You will also take part in the Student Advisory Group (SAG), channelling the student voice into the International Student Experience Advisory Board (ISEAB). As part of the SAG, you will form working groups to conduct dedicated research on themes affecting the student experience such as careers, communications and social integration.
Duties and responsibilities
As a Global Student Ambassador, you will contribute to a range of activities and collaborate with other ambassadors on projects across the two streams throughout the year.
Events & Community Engagement Stream
- Support the delivery of cultural and community events such as Lunar New Year celebrations, Welcome Week and Global Lounge activities.
- Act as a mentor to new students from all across the world during arrival and transition events, sharing peer-based insights and signposting support services.
- Assist with roundtable conferences and student panels.
Research, Benchmarking & Co-Creation Stream
- Act as a sounding board for student needs, providing feedback on events, webpages and support materials.
- Contribute to the transformation of student-facing guidance and digital resources.
- Facilitate and host International Student Roundtable events as well as form working groups within the SAG (Student Advisory Group), gathering student insights and producing summary reports with recommendations.
Skills and experience
We are looking for students who bring a mix of passion, creativity and collaboration to the team. You do not need to have formal experience, just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
Essential:
A genuine interest in enhancing the global community experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain ideas clearly and simply.
- Personable, approachable, proactive and solution-focused.
- Reliable and committed, with strong time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Respect for boundaries and awareness of when to escalate issues appropriately.
- Strong teamwork skills and a professional, enthusiastic attitude.
- A creative mindset and openness to testing and developing ideas in a diverse team.
- Analytical thinking, with the ability to draw insights and recommendations from information.
Desirable:
- Experience supporting events, helping other students, or contributing to student-led initiatives.
- Confidence or interest in digital content creation (e.g. Canva, video editing, Microsoft Forms).
- Familiarity with tools like web editors or analytics platforms (helpful for research and digital streams).
- Familiarity with analysis tools (e.g. Python, R, Excel) and typesetting tools (e.g. LaTeX).
- Excellent research and reporting skills.
