Description

Role

The University of Leicester's Centre for International Training and Education (CITE) is seeking an enthusiastic and organised International Short Programmes Assistant to support the delivery of student short courses during a busy and exciting period from January to March 2027. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience within a professional university environment that has a strong international outlook and a commitment to outstanding customer service.

Working closely with programme directors, administrators, tutors and students, you will play an important role in ensuring that international programmes run smoothly while helping to create a welcoming and engaging experience for students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.

Duties and responsibilities

You will support the administration of short courses across their full lifecycle, assisting with course arrangements, student communications, event planning, travel bookings and the coordination of the University's Study Buddy scheme. The role involves maintaining accurate student records and databases, communicating with students and staff through email and Blackboard, responding to enquiries, and supporting student registration and orientation activities.

You will also provide day-to-day advice and support to international students, assist with airport transfers and accommodation check-in and check-out processes, accompany course excursions, contribute to social activities, and support the preparation of end-of-course reports and certificates. Additional administrative duties may be required to support the wider CITE administration team.

Skills and experience

Applicants should hold a minimum of five GCSEs at grades A-C (or equivalent qualifications, skills or experience), demonstrate competence in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and have experience of maintaining accurate records. Experience of studying or working within a university environment, particularly at the University of Leicester, and experience of studying or living abroad would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will have strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. You will have cultural awareness, an understanding of the needs of international students, confidence when dealing with suppliers and external partners, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. Flexibility, enthusiasm, resourcefulness and a willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends are essential.

Location
University of Leicester. The role will be based at Stamford Court in Oadby (opposite John Foster hall) with occasional work on main campus.
