Role
Research assistance is required to develop an original dataset from publicly available sources.
Duties and responsibilities
1. The RA will locate and construct a dataset consisting of at least 50 examples of an identified empirical cases. The identification of cases will involve analysis and judgement. It will be necessary to listen to recordings of interaction and hear examples that should (or should not) be added to the dataset.
2. The RA will manage the dataset. This will involve storing audio/visual recordings of each extract and logging key information pertaining to each, e.g., source, participants, date, relevant timestamp, etc.
3. Once the set of cases has been identified and agreed, each will be transcribed, initially verbatim (talk only), and then following Jeffersonian (conversation analysis) notation. Each case is likely to be short, lasting 30/40 seconds.
Skills and experience
The work is best suited to someone with a background in qualitative research.
