Description
Role
The University of Leicester is seeking a Research Assistant to support an ongoing research project and impact case study exploring greenwashing, its identification, and public responses. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a timely and impactful area of research within the field of media, communications and climate-related public discourse. The successful candidate will work closely with the research lead to undertake media mapping and qualitative analysis of media coverage relating to greenwashing and climate obstruction.
Working as part of a collaborative research team, you will help identify key individuals and organisations for future engagement, contribute to the development of research approaches and methods, and present findings to a dedicated research working group. There will also be opportunities to support wider research dissemination and develop your own research skills and experience.
Duties and responsibilities
You will support the acquisition and evaluation of media coverage related to greenwashing and professional communications in climate obstruction, carrying out critical qualitative analysis using agreed and emerging research techniques. The role includes conducting literature searches, summarising and disseminating findings to research colleagues, and contributing to the development of research methodologies and approaches where appropriate. There may also be opportunities to contribute to research outputs, such as journal articles, technical papers or book chapters.
The post holder will participate in activities that support the dissemination of research findings, including workshops and conferences, while contributing to the overall success of the wider research programme. You will be expected to manage your workload effectively, work collaboratively with colleagues and research collaborators, and engage proactively with professional development opportunities.
Skills and experience
Applicants must be educated to honours degree level or possess equivalent relevant experience, together with practical experience of applying research methods and techniques to deliver high-quality outputs. You should demonstrate strong research potential, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a genuine enthusiasm for the subject area. Experience of managing priorities effectively and communicating clearly, both verbally and in writing, is essential.
A Master's degree or current PhD study would be advantageous. We are looking for a collaborative team player who is committed to continuous professional development and able to contribute positively to a supportive and inclusive research environment.
