Description

Role

The School of Management is seeking an Associate Tutor to support MN7405 Management Decisions and Risk Analysis, a 15-credit postgraduate module delivered as part of the MSc Healthcare Management programme. Working under the direction of the module convenor and alongside the module’s Associate Lecturer, you will deliver seminars that enable students to consolidate and apply material covered in lectures.

You will use established module materials to facilitate small-group learning through activities, case studies and practical tasks, including business simulations where appropriate. This is an opportunity to contribute to an inclusive postgraduate learning environment and help students develop evidence-based approaches to management decision-making and risk analysis.

Duties and responsibilities

You will deliver eight hours of seminars and prepare for each session using materials supplied by the module convenor and Associate Lecturer. You will ensure that activities reflect the module’s learning outcomes, build on lecture content and encourage participation from all students. You will also provide formative feedback and support students as they prepare for the module’s reflective portfolio assessment.

In addition, you will signpost students to appropriate academic or pastoral support, record attendance and engagement, use Blackboard as required and liaise with the module team. You will work closely with the Associate Lecturer, MSc Healthcare Management Programme Director and relevant professional services colleagues, including timetabling and student support teams.

Skills and experience

You will have a Master’s qualification, or equivalent experience, in management, strategic management, business administration or a closely related discipline. You will also have current knowledge of strategic management, management decision-making and risk analysis, together with the ability to facilitate small-group learning and communicate effectively with students and colleagues. A high level of proficiency in English and confidence using IT and virtual learning environments are essential.

Experience of teaching postgraduate students, including international cohorts, within UK higher education would be advantageous. A relevant PhD, or progress towards one, a teaching qualification or Fellowship of Advance HE, and knowledge of healthcare or public-sector organisations would also be welcomed. Experience of using business simulations, case studies or portfolio-based assessment is desirable. You should be able to work independently and collaboratively and demonstrate a commitment to high-quality, inclusive teaching aligned with the University’s values of being inclusive, inspiring and impactful.
