Description

Role

The School of Management is seeking an Associate Tutor to deliver seminar and workshop teaching for MN7031 The Global Business Environment, a postgraduate module, during Semester 1 of the 2026/27 academic year. This part-time, fixed-term role involves approximately four hours of work per week for 12 weeks. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the module convenor and use the module’s established teaching materials.

The role requires expertise in financial accounting, particularly the preparation and interpretation of financial statements for business decision-making. It also requires the ability to teach foreign exchange and international marketing.

Duties and responsibilities

You will deliver ten one-hour seminars to each of two seminar groups and three two-hour workshops to one workshop group. Teaching will cover financial statements, financial ratio analysis, foreign exchange, international marketing, environmental analysis, the application of marketing principles to business decision-making, assessment literacy and mock examinations.

You will prepare for teaching using materials supplied by the module convenor, adapting examples and activities so that students without previous accounting knowledge can engage with technical content. You will facilitate small-group learning, provide formative feedback, support students’ assessment literacy and signpost appropriate academic and pastoral support. You will also use Blackboard as required, attend relevant module team meetings and coordinate teaching with the module convenor.

Skills and experience

You will have a Master’s qualification, or equivalent experience, in accounting, finance, business or a closely related discipline. You will have up-to-date knowledge of financial accounting, including the preparation and interpretation of financial statements and financial ratio analysis, together with working knowledge of foreign exchange and international business. You must be able to explain technical financial concepts clearly to students who do not have an accounting background.

You will demonstrate effective oral communication, the ability to facilitate small-group learning, proficiency in English and confidence using IT and virtual learning environments. You will be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a module team and show a commitment to high-quality, inclusive teaching. A professional accounting qualification, relevant doctoral study, a teaching qualification or Fellowship of Advance HE, experience of postgraduate teaching in UK higher education, and experience of using case studies, presentations or mock examinations would be advantageous.
