Description

Role

The key purpose of this role is to manage the quality monitoring, feedback and improvement cycle for the MBBS programme. This comprises all years of the programme and all NHS clinical placement partner sites (both home and international programmes). The post holder will work under the overall supervision of the Head of Quality and Partnerships and line manage the Quality and Tariff Administrator.

Duties and responsibilities

Quality monitoring of clinical placements and taught programme modules

  • Manage student feedback for clinical placements and taught programme modules, including survey design, analysis and dissemination, in line with quality assurance policies.
  • Develop and monitor action plans for partner sites and modules with relevant academic and quality leads, informing site visits, provider discussions and module reviews.
  • Coordinate NHS partner site visits in line with MBBS QA policy and liaise with partner contacts.
  • Produce and maintain key quality documentation, including Quality Teaching Standards, the MBBS Quality Framework and QA visit and annual monitoring documentation.

Quality management reporting

  • Advise academic and administrative staff and contribute to self-assessment documentation for external reviews, including those by the GMC and NHS England.
  • Act as the first point of contact for MBBS quality assurance, liaising across the university to support institutional QA processes and annual reporting.
  • Oversee the student feedback response cycle, working with academic leads and placement providers to deliver regular “closing the loop” communications.

Partnerships

  • Act as committee secretary for formal and informal programme quality management meetings, including the Sub Deans meeting.
  • Support partner placement providers and the wider clinical teaching faculty with guidance and resources to promote high-quality learning opportunities.
  • Support the clinical teachers’ resource hub and ensure partners are informed of programme updates and developments.
  • Coordinate the annual Clinical Teachers’ Day with relevant academic leads.

Skills and experience

  • The candidate must be flexible and willing to undertake other tasks, as directed by the line manager to respond to shifting pressures within the team. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure, empathetic approach to students and staff and agile approach to work are essential.
