Role
On behalf of our Leicester Client, we are recruiting a HR Officer to support the HR Manager in the provision of an efficient and effective human resources function for a local College, along with responsibility for the full employee life cycle of a nominated headcount.

Please note this role is not based at De Montfort University.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support the HR Manager in delivering an efficient and effective HR service across the College, with responsibility for the full employee lifecycle for a nominated headcount.
  • Coordinate day-to-day HR administration, including recruitment campaigns, onboarding, induction, contractual changes, employee records, absence management and leaver processes, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete and processed within required timescales.
  • Maintain and contribute to the development of the HR database and ensure timely submission of approved documentation to Finance and Payroll.
  • Manage staff correspondence relating to contractual and employment matters and respond to HR enquiries, providing appropriate advice or directing staff to relevant sources of support.
  • Manage employee relations (ER) casework from investigation through to outcome, ensuring processes are completed appropriately and recommendations are implemented.
  • Lead and continually improve the new starter induction process, incorporating feedback and review to enhance the employee experience.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to HR Assistant(s), and deputise for the HR Manager during periods of absence, maintaining a consistent and effective HR service for all staff.

Skills and experience

Qualifications

  • 2 A levels or equivalent Level 3 qualification
  • Commitment to continued professional development
  • CIPD Level 5 desirable 

Experience, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Significant experience of working in an HR context
  • Significant experience in ER casework in all areas
  • Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Experience of maintaining and developing data record systems
  • Experience of writing reports
  • Experience of dealing with confidential situations and sensitive information
  • Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Confident and competent in the use of IT in a working environment
  • Ability to respond and communicate with others showing sensitivity, clarity and focus
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work effectively and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience of working in a college or school context
