Role
The role is to support the work of Professor Heather Widdows and the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA) to promote awareness of appearance targeted bullying, the most prevalent form of bullying. The role is 1 day a week for 6 months.
Key responsibility will be supporting the extension of the ABA’s tackling appearance targeted bullying work, by increasing the number of stakeholders that attend a webinar in February and who access the training and toolkit.
Duties and responsibilities
The postholder will:
- Carry out activity as required to enhance impact and reach of appearance targeted bullying training developed by the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA) with Professor Heather Widdows.
- Work with the ABA to promote and extend the reach of webinar (9 February) and appearance targeted bullying toolkit (in development).
- Identify and collate lists of stakeholders and their contact details, including schools, youth organisations, relevant professional bodies and policymakers.
- With ABA guidance, send communications and mailings to advertise the webinar and toolkit.
- Support ABA in organisation of webinar, and any other additional events that seek to extend the reach of the training materials..
- In conjunction with the ABA draft content for websites, blogs, op eds and social media that supports the webinar and extends the impact
- Follow up with stakeholders, attendees and others to evidence the impact of the appearance targeted bullying training, toolkit and webinar.
- Any other tasks that extend the work on appearance targeted bullying by the ABA and foster the relationship between the ABA and Professor Widdows.
Skills and experience
- A first degree in Philosophy or cognate discipline (e.g. Politics, Ethics, Law, Psychology, PPE)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to complete a search for stakeholders and compile a database from publicly alliable and accessible information
- Good IT skills and familiarity with IT systems and social media platforms
- Ability to work independently and seek supervision when appropriate
- Excellent attention to detail
- Organised, with excellent time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and professional skills with the ability to build working relationships with project team members, stakeholders and the public
- Experience of event organisation
- Demonstrable interest in the impact of philosophy on policy, NGOs and/or public understanding
- Interest in children’s rights and wellbeing
Location
Combination - predominantly at home working with the option to hot-desk on campus as needed.
