Role
Residential Community Coordinator will lead, develop and support a team of student Residential Community Assistants (RCAs), ensuring they are provided with the skills and knowledge needed to support our on-campus residential community and to respond to the changing expectations and demands of our students. The postholder will develop and deliver a wide range of training to the RCAs and will need to ensure all team members are fully prepared to respond to a variety of situations.
Duties and responsibilities
The team provides 24/7 pastoral support 365 days a year to a diverse group of students from all walks of life and leads on an educative programme of activities to ensure our students develop skills in addition to their academic attainments. The postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of these activities ensuring a focus on Community Wellbeing, Community Building and Community Behaviours, developing a sense of belonging within the residential system and playing a central role in ensuring the experience of living on campus is fully inclusive and supported.
Skills and experience
- Educated to A-Level or equivalent, including GCSE Maths & English to grade C
- IT qualification or relevant experience
- Previous experience of HE institutions/working with students would be highly advantageous
- To manage and co-ordinate a team of Residential Community Assistants (RCAs) across campus, including the administration of the RCAs shift rota, ensuring there is adequate cover at all times.
- To ensure the RCAs receive all relevant and appropriate training to enable them to discharge their duties.
- To provide demonstrable leadership in ensuring Community Wellbeing, Community Building and Community Behaviours are at the heart of students’ residential life.
- Work with the Residential Community Team to cultivate a sense of community within the halls of residence
- Assist the Residential Community Team with the organisation of recruiting a large team of Residential Community Assistants
- To work with the Student Discipline Team to ensure all complaints are fully investigated in line with university regulations.
- To develop and champion a comprehensive and fully inclusive blended programme of events for on-campus student residents.
- To work with other teams in delivering the entire life cycle of living at Warwick. This may include, but not be limited to room allocations, arrivals, room swaps, discipline, leavers etc.
- To work closely with the RCAs to identify vulnerable students and signpost to sources of support, including, but not limited to, Wellbeing Support Services.
- To liaise with key stakeholders and partners (internal and external) to deliver an excellent service for our students.
- To support the University’s existing incident management processes where related to its residential community.
- To work shifts including, daytime, evenings and weekends.
- To be part of an on-call rota to provide cover 365 days a year.
- To be flexible within a small dynamic team for shift cover where required.
