Role
Are you an enthusiastic, energetic and qualified Group Exercise Instructor looking for flexible teaching opportunities?
Duties and responsibilities
You will plan and prepare classes in advance, adapting activities where appropriate to meet different participant abilities and fitness levels. You will motivate and engage participants, deliver excellent customer service and ensure that every class provides a safe, professional and positive experience.
You will carry out appropriate safety checks of equipment and facilities, report defects promptly and comply with relevant health and safety, emergency and safeguarding procedures. You will also maintain your professional knowledge through continuing professional development, keep required qualification and compliance records up to date, and work constructively both independently and as part of the wider Sport & Active Life team.
Skills and experience
We welcome instructors qualified in a range of group exercise disciplines, with priority for:
- Indoor Cycle
- Aqua
- Weighted Workouts
- Full-Body Workouts
- Other group exercise disciplines are also welcome.
You must hold a recognised National Governing Body, CIMSPA-recognised or equivalent qualification relevant to the classes you will teach. You will also need experience of delivering group exercise classes within a fitness, leisure or wellbeing environment, experience of providing excellent customer service, and a sound knowledge of safe exercise practice, participant wellbeing and risk management.
You will have excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and motivate diverse groups of participants. A customer-focused approach, enthusiasm, energy, professionalism and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion are essential. Current Emergency First Aid at Work certification, CIMSPA membership, experience of delivering multiple group exercise disciplines and previous experience within higher education would be advantageous.
