Purpose of the role:

Sharp Alignment Ltd is an independent osteopathic practice working from a multidisciplinary clinic in Prescot. Our patient work centres on musculoskeletal health, mobility and healthy ageing. Right now the practice reaches the public through one Facebook page and nothing else — as a one-person business with a full clinical diary, there has never been the time or the in-house expertise to do more.

This internship exists to change that. You would establish the practice's public health-education presence from scratch on two platforms: Instagram as the main public-facing channel, with short-form video as the core content format, and LinkedIn for professional credibility and referral relationships.

The team you'd be joining: There isn't one, and that's the honest appeal of this role. You would work directly with me - the practice owner and only employee. No marketing department to sit at the bottom of, and no layers between your ideas and the decision. Your recommendations come straight to me, you'll see them acted on within days, and what you produce becomes the practice'sactual public voice rather than a training exercise.

Duties and responsibilities
Main duties:

  • Audit the existing Facebook presence and benchmark it against comparable health practitioners Define the audience, key messages and tone of voice, working from clinical material I provide — including my recently published book on healthy ageing
  • Set up and brand the Instagram and LinkedIn accounts
  • Build a content bank — written posts, short-form video, graphics — mapped to a publishing calendar>Run the first weeks of live activity, with analytics set up and tracked against goals we agree together
  • Produce a handover pack so the practice can sustain the activity after you finish

Support you'll get:

  • A standing online session with me every Monday morning, one to two hours, protected in my clinical diary for the whole placement.
  • Same-working-day responses in between, so nothing stalls waiting for Monday.
  • Design and scheduling subscriptions funded by the practice. All health-related content comes to me for sign-off before publication — a regulatory requirement in my profession, and a built-in feedback loop on your work.

Working pattern:

  • Predominantly home-based and genuinely flexible around your timetable, with occasional pre-arranged sessions at the Prescot clinic outside patient hours for filming and photography.

What you'd leave with:

  • A complete, named portfolio project — strategy document, live accounts, content bank and measured results — that you can show and talk through in graduate applications.

Skills and experience
Three key skills:

  • Social media fluency. Current, confident knowledge of Instagram and LinkedIn, and an eye for short-form video that makes people stop scrolling.
  • Clear writing for a general audience. Able to turn clinical material into something readable and engaging without losing accuracy.
  • Self-direction. Comfortable working remotely, managing your time around your studies, and bringing me proposals rather than waiting to be told.

Desirable:

  • Basic design or video editing in whatever tools you already use — Canva, CapCut or similar. I fund the subscriptions.
  • An interest in health, wellbeing or ageing
  • Some familiarity with analytics No prior professional experience is expected. Care and accuracy with health information matter more to me than polish — I will teach you where the regulatory lines sit.

Degree subjects:

  • Marketing, Advertising, PR and Communications, Media, Journalism, Business, Sport and Exercise Science, Public Health, Nutrition or Psychology would all fit naturally. That said, I'm more interested in the person than the course, and applications from any discipline are welcome.
