Role

Unitemps are recruiting for a Education Administrator. This role is for an asap start date (early October) and has a projected end date of October 30th 2026. This is a full-time role at 37.5 hours per week. Payment is set at £19.14 per hour + £3.58 holiday pay. This role is hybrid working with 3 days per week on UCL campus and the other days from home/remote.

Alongside the traditional arts and humanities departments of English, Philosophy, Greek & Latin, and the School of European Languages, Culture & Society (SELCS), we are also proud to have the Slade School of Fine Art, Hebrew & Jewish Studies, Information Studies, the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES), European & International Social & Political Studies (EISPS), Arts and Sciences (UASc), and many interdisciplinary degrees at all levels of study as part of our Faculty. The Faculty has recently launched a unique range of undergraduate degrees at UCL East, the university’s new campus in Stratford, East London – Art & Technology BA, Creative Arts & Humanities BA and Information, Data and Society BSc – as well as the postgraduate taught course Creative Health MASc. There are around 6,000 students and over 1,000 members of staff in the Faculty, of whom three quarters are academic, teaching and research staff, and one quarter professional services.
 
The post holder is part of the Faculty Education and Student Experience (ESE) team who work together in a close network of teams that support all our students. They will also work as part of one or several programme teams incorporating close working with professional services and academic staff.

Duties and responsibilities

Student recruitment and admissions 

  • Deal with prospective student enquiries 
  • Monitor and process student applications ensuring that they are dealt with in a timely manner 
  • Assist the Faculty Marketing and Communications team in student recruitment initiatives, including supporting Open Days and interviews as required and in ensuring that the materials (prospectus, handbook, webpages etc.) relating to designated programme are accurate and up to date, as required 
  • Keep academic staff informed on student recruitment policies 

Student induction and support 

  • Co-ordinate start of session arrangements; registration of new students, help create welcome packs
  • Working with professional services colleagues to set up induction week(s)
  • Liaise with Student Support and Wellbeing Services in seeking appropriate assistance for students requiring specialist assessments and support
  • Support students who need to submit extenuating circumstances applications and process applications
  • Arrange for students to be allocated a personal tutor if requested.

Skills and experience

Qualifications, experience, and knowledge 

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (including Mathematics and English Language) or equivalent, or having acquired relevant experience 
  • Administrative work in a busy office environment 
  • Administration in higher/further education or a teaching and learning environment 

Skills and abilities 

  • Good computer skills, including using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and the internet Demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills (including accurate grammar, spelling and punctuation) 
  • Have good interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of people, including the ability to relate to staff and students in a teaching and learning context 
  • Be able to prioritise and organise own workload, meet time-critical schedules 
  • Be able to collate and record information accurately using a variety of media 
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Demonstrate commitment to high quality service provision 
  • Commitment to and knowledge of advancing equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Be able to use student records systems (e.g. Portico, SITS) and virtual learning environments (e.g. Moodle, Blackboard)
