THE ROLE 

On behalf of our Leicester Client, we are are looking for a compassionate, proactive and resilient Student Wellbeing Advisor to join the Welfare and Skills Team and play a key role in supporting the wellbeing, safeguarding and success of the students.

The purpose of the role is to support the Welfare & Skills team to develop and co-ordinate support for students with welfare and mental health difficulties and to be a member of the Safeguarding Team.

This is a full time, term time only post with an immediate start. An enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service would be advantageous and highly desirable.

Rate of pay: £16.24

Holiday Pay: £1.96

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide information, resources, and signposting to students in relation to their individual needs.
  • Support and, where appropriate, advocate on behalf of students with welfare and/or mental health difficulties.
  • Work closely with the Designated Mental Health Lead (Students) and Welfare Lead Advisor to maintain a register of students with welfare and mental health needs.
  • Proactively support students through the delivery of wellbeing programmes, including mindfulness and resilience sessions.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with external support agencies, including Vitaminds, Social Services, and Harmless.
  • Operate within a robust welfare and skills referral service, maintaining accurate records to monitor and evaluate interventions and initiatives.
  • Play an active role in the Fitness to Study process, including:- Meeting with students and parents/carers.- Tracking and supporting students through all stages of the process.- Collating documentation.- Liaising with external attendees.- Supporting the recording and management of Fitness to Study information.
  • Support the administration of Exam Access Arrangements for students with medical and mental health needs.
  • Track and support students to enable effective monitoring of academic progress.
  • Record and securely maintain highly confidential and sensitive information and documentation.
  • Work with the Head and Deputy Head of Welfare and Skills, Designated Mental Health Lead, Welfare Lead Advisor, and wider Welfare and Skills Team to organise on-campus wellbeing events.
  • Provide advice and support to staff, students, parents/carers, and external agencies regarding the College Fitness to Study policy and procedures.• Support the Designated Person in monitoring the progress of Looked After Children, including organising, administering, and attending PEP meetings.
  • Act as a first responder within the Welfare Team to support students presenting with immediate needs.• Actively participate in the safeguarding team rota, responding to urgent concerns raised by staff and students.
  • Liaise effectively with Welfare and Skills, Safeguarding, and PPM teams to support students facing significant challenges or serious difficulties.

Skills and experience
EDUCATION and QUALIFICATIONS 

GCSE Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) - Essential
Minimum of 2 A-Levels or an equivalent Level 3 qualification - Essential
Mental Health First Aid Certificate - Desirable
Evidence of cumulative, regular training delivered by certified organisations - Desirable
Commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) - Desirable
