Description
Role
The University of Leicester is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Administration Assistant (Reception) to join the College of Business. Based at the Brookfield Campus reception, you will be the first point of contact for visitors, students and staff, providing a professional and welcoming service while supporting the day-to-day operations of the College. The role combines front-of-house responsibilities with a range of administrative duties, requiring excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach.
Working as part of a collaborative team, you will support both the Programme Administration and Operations teams, helping to ensure the smooth running of activities across the College.
Duties and responsibilities
In this varied role, you will welcome visitors and students, respond to enquiries, provide information and signposting, maintain a professional reception area, and support the management of campus activities. You will coordinate room bookings, update calendars, issue visitor passes, support health and safety procedures, assist with events, and help maintain campus security and operational effectiveness.
You will also undertake a range of administrative tasks, including processing correspondence, preparing documents, maintaining accurate records, ordering stationery, overseeing printing facilities, reporting maintenance issues, and ensuring compliance with University procedures and regulations. The role requires effective workload management and the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.
Skills and experience
We are looking for candidates with previous administrative experience gained in a busy environment, excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders. You should possess strong organisational and record-keeping skills, excellent attention to detail, and confidence using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, alongside other web-based systems. Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, you will be committed to delivering a high-quality service and maintaining professional standards.
The successful candidate will be able to work collaboratively while also demonstrating initiative and independent judgement when required. Experience within a higher education environment would be advantageous but is not essential. We welcome applications from individuals who are adaptable, flexible and enthusiastic about supporting students, staff and visitors within a dynamic university setting.
