Role
The Student Ambassador role is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from all academic disciplines. Student Ambassadors represent the university both on campus and online, acting as the face of the institution. They play a key role in supporting student recruitment, outreach, and engagement by delivering a welcoming, informative, and professional experience for prospective students, their families, schools, colleges, and other stakeholders.
Student Ambassadors are expected to communicate accurately and confidently, promote the university's values, and provide excellent customer service across a range of activities and communication channels.
Hourly Rate: £12.71
Holiday Pay: £1.98
Duties and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Always represent the university professionally, delivering an outstanding customer experience that reflects the university's values.
- Support student recruitment, outreach, and engagement activities both on campus and online.
- Welcome, guide, and engage prospective students, visitors, families, schools, colleges, and other stakeholders during events and activities.
- Lead campus, accommodation, and course-specific tours, providing accurate and engaging information about the university and student experience.
- Share your student journey through presentations, panel discussions, blogs, vlogs, social media content, photography, video campaigns, and other promotional activities.
- Respond professionally to enquiries via face-to-face interactions, telephone, email, and digital communication platforms.
- Assist with the planning, preparation, setup, operation, and dismantling of recruitment events and promotional activities.
- Complete administrative and clerical tasks, including accurately recording information and maintaining data using university systems.
- Work collaboratively with university staff and fellow ambassadors while also using initiative to work independently when required.
- Lead and support groups of prospective students, visitors, and peers during activities, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and organised experience.
- Consistently achieve agreed performance targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) while maintaining high standards of service.

- Strong presentation and public speaking skills, with experience presenting to groups or large audiences.

- Experience working with young people, families, the public, or in a customer-facing environment.
