Role
This is a 12-week paid internship opportunity as part of the WMG Internship Programme.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated graduate engineer to join a forward-thinking manufacturing business, working on a diverse portfolio of continuous improvement and engineering projects.
Rather than being assigned to a single role, you will work alongside experienced engineers and operational teams to identify opportunities for improving manufacturing efficiency, reducing costs, optimising production processes and supporting future business growth.
Each project will deliver real business impact, providing you with the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge while gaining valuable hands-on experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This internship is designed to provide meaningful responsibility from day one, with the opportunity to present recommendations directly to senior stakeholders and contribute to strategic improvement initiatives.
Successful interns may also be considered for future permanent opportunities within the business.

Duties and responsibilities
Example Project Activities
Depending on business priorities, projects may include:
- Analysing manufacturing data to identify productivity improvement opportunities.
- Improving material utilisation and reducing manufacturing waste.
- Supporting process optimisation across fabrication and finishing operations.
- Reviewing production methods to reduce labour content and improve efficiency.
- Evaluating alternative manufacturing processes and materials.
- Developing business cases for new manufacturing opportunities.
- Working with Design, Production and Engineering teams to implement improvements.
- Monitoring project performance against agreed KPIs.
- Presenting findings and recommendations to management.
Skills and experience
- Degree (or predicted degree) in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Production Engineering
- Automotive Engineering
- Product Design Engineering
- General Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Good organisational skills.
- A proactive and positive approach to learning.
- Competent using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Desirable Skills
- Experience or knowledge of any of the following would be advantageous:
- Lean Manufacturing.
- Continuous Improvement methodologies.
