Role

Are you passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM)? Do you enjoy sharing your knowledge and inspiring others? If so, we invite you to become a STEMM Ambassador at the University of Nottingham. As a STEMM Ambassador, you will have the opportunity to engage with students, educators, and the wider community to promote interest and enthusiasm for STEMM subjects. You will play a crucial role in inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and medical professionals.

 

Start Date: 01/10/2026 (To be confirmed with the hiring manager)

End Date: 31/07/2027

Working Hours: Variable hours to cover a variety of events (To be confirmed with the hiring manager)

Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour

Holiday Pay Rate: £1.53 per hour

Location: University Park, Nottingham, NG7 2RD

Duties and responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging presentations and workshops to schools, colleges, and community groups on various STEMM topics
  • Participate in outreach events and activities both on and off campus
  • Act as a role model and mentor for students interested in STEMM subjects
  • Assist with the organisation and coordination of STEMM-related initiatives and programs
  • Help record and promote event using faculty social media channels

Skills and experience

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or postgraduate student in an engineering discipline at the University of Nottingham
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for STEMM subjects and a desire to inspire others
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Previous experience in outreach or mentoring roles is desirable but not essential
