Description
Role
To assist in the day-to-day operation of all gym facilities, the Maltings Sports Hall and Dance Studio. The role will involve working a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends, to ensure the facilities operate safely, efficiently and provide a welcoming experience for members and users.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide gym inductions and instruct new gym members on the safe and effective use of equipment.
- Develop appropriate personal fitness programmes for gym members.
- Assist with health promotion initiatives and activities.
- Carry out regular maintenance, safety and equipment checks and report any issues appropriately.
- Promote and sell products and services and process payments accurately.
- Undertake general administrative and reception duties, including:
- Responding to telephone and general enquiries.
- Greeting and signing in gym members and visitors.
- Issuing locker keys.
- Processing membership applications.
- Completing the normal operating checklist.
- Deliver fitness classes and group exercise sessions where appropriately qualified.
- Assist with creating and sharing engaging content across the University's social media platforms.
- Attend relevant training and development sessions as required.
- Attend regular team meetings.
- Liaise with the Health and Fitness Manager regarding rotas, shifts and availability.
- Carry out cleaning duties as required, including cleaning gym equipment and wet areas.
- Support Open Days, student recruitment activities and other relevant University events.
- Undertake any other duties that are reasonably relevant to the post.
Skills and experience
- Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification or Level 3 Personal Training qualification.
- Enhanced DBS check, including Children's and Adults' Barred Lists, where required for the role.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
