SYV Campaign and Communications Intern
 
Serious youth violence (SYV) remains a key government policy priority. The effects ripple out across communities. Equal Visions own research has identified a gap in provision for young people affected by SYV. We are seeking a Communications and Campaigns Intern to promote our youth-led campaign for community-based, trauma-informed mental health support for young people. The role will entail gathering community backing and amplifying the voices of young people affected by serious youth violence

Duties and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities

 
  • Content Creation: Draft engaging social media posts and short-form blogs highlighting youth-informed mental health needs.
  • Campaign Outreach: Help build relationships with local groups, youth boards, and stakeholders to gather petition and advocacy support.
  • Event Support: Assist in organizing local awareness sessions, workshops, and youth-led panel discussions across Merseyside.
  • Storytelling: Translate research findings and lived experiences into compelling public-facing messaging

Skills and experience
Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Essential: Working towards an undergraduate qualification and passionate about youth justice, mental health, and community-led change.
  • Essential: Good knowledge of research literature surrounding the social determinants of health or a closely related discourse.
  • Essential: Basic experience with social media platforms and digital content tools.
  • Essential: An awareness of the specific inequalities experienced by young people in Toxteth. 

Experience

  • Essential: A willingness to gain hands-on experience working directly with disadvantaged groups.

Skills and Abilities

  • Essential: Excellent communication, organisational, and time-management skills.
  • Essential: Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to approach tasks with creativity and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Essential: Strongly committed to personal career development, including a proactive willingness to seek support and identify training opportunities
