Description

Role

This role will be focused on delivery of the University of Warwick Policy Institute and development of resources and support to build institutional policy capacity.

Duties and responsibilities

The post holder will be line managed by the policy lead in the research impact team. Their role will include:

  • Developing a policy opportunities board or tracker to pool policy opportunities and fully utilise existing assets (UPEN, Industry and Parliament Trust, government KEU calls)
  • Supporting the delivery of institutional wide policy fellowships
  • Designing and developing the Policy Institute online presence under the Impact Academy webpages and managing the Policy Institute linkedin account
  • Designing a strand of policy focused training with accompanying resources
  • Evaluating previous policy interventions, funding schemes (PSF, Policy Hub fellowships etc) and training to identify best practice, value for money and policy and impact outcomes
  • Building policy stakeholder networks to facilitate policy knowledge exchange, fellowships and strengthen institutional relationships
  • Apply for funding from schemes and organisations to support policy capacity building at the institutional level

Skills and experience

  • This role will require someone with a good understanding of the policy landscape, especially in the UK (national and regional). Additional understanding of policy contexts outside of the UK would be of interest.
  • Excellent administrative skills, that will be evidenced by previous experience of working in a role with administrative responsibilities
  • Ability to manage multiple strands of work and to work independently to deadlines
  • A team player who will follow instructions closely and contribute to the impact team and broader Warwick community
  • Excellent personal and communication skills: we are looking for someone who is capable of working with researchers, professional service teams and managing external stakeholder relationships
  • Web design and social media experience – someone who is familiar with basic web editing and who can create and run a LinkedIn account
  • This is a development opportunity, so we are particularly interested in people who feel that they would be interested in a career in either policy or impact. A Warwick graduate with a PhD in a policy relevant area or with demonstrable policy experience or expertise is desirable.

  • Location: Hybrid: three set days (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) in the office on Warwick Campus, two home working days (Tuesday and Friday).
  • Start and end date: ASAP for 6 month period.
