THE ROLE 

The GP surgery near to DMU campus are looking to recruit 2x Welcome Week Student Promotion Assistants to work Monday 28th September to Friday 2nd October working 10:00am - 18:00pm each day.

The role is to help encourage new and returning students to register with the University's GP Surgery during one of the busiest weeks on campus. This is a fantastic opportunity for confident, friendly students who enjoy speaking to people and making a positive difference to the student experience.

Dates: Monday 28 September 2026 – Friday 2 October 2026

Hours: 10:00am – 6:00pm each day

Rate of pay: £12.71

Holiday Pay: £1.53

No previous experience is required – just a positive attitude and great communication skills.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Promoting the benefits of registering with the DMU GP Surgery.
  • Engaging with students across campus during Welcome Week.
  • Encouraging students to sign up using a QR code.
  • Handing out leaflets and answering basic questions.
  • Creating a welcoming and approachable presence on campus.
  • You'll be provided with a branded GP Surgery T-shirt, promotional materials and everything you need to confidently represent the service.

Skills and experience

  • Confident approaching and talking to new people.
  • Friendly, enthusiastic and approachable.
  • Comfortable standing and walking around campus for much of the shift.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Passionate about supporting fellow students.
  • No previous experience is required – just a positive attitude and great communication skills.
