THE ROLE
On behalf of our DMU Client; Student Life and Library Services, we are looking to recruit a number of Call Operatives to work Monday 26th October to Friday 30th October (inclusive).
This role will be based on De Montfort University Campus and is not able to be worked remotely.
This will involve calling and checking in with first-year students, making sure they are accessing the services available to them in the 1st stages of their course and making any relevant referrals.
You must be able to commit to the working hours below and be able to select 1 shift option from below for each working day.
- Shift 1: 09:00 - 14:00 (20 min unpaid break)
- Shift 2: 14:00 - 19:00 (20 min unpaid break)
- Shift 3: 09:00 - 19:00 (1 hour unpaid lunch break; you will be paid in total 1 hour for this)
Training: You will have access to the online training site and training will need to be completed by 3pm on Friday 23rd October 2026.
Candidate Hourly pay: £12.71 per hour
Candidate Holiday pay: £1.98 per hour
This role is open to current DMU students only, we cannot accept 1st year students due to the nature of the role.
All other applications external to DMU will not be considered.
Duties and responsibilities
- Making outbound calls to 1st year students
- Checking in with new students to aid transition and offering support where necessary
- Making sure they are accessing the services available to them in the first year
- Making any relevant referrals to relevant departments
Skills and experience
- Previous experience within this role or call centre experience would be desirable
- Confident/pleasant telephone manner
- Able to communicate effectively
- Able to deal with sensitive and confidential information
- Training will be provided, and there will be a crib sheet and script to follow.

This role is open to current DMU students only, we cannot accept 1st year students due to the nature of the role.
