Description

Role

Supporting climbing wall operations. This will include instruction to students, staff, public members and children. Role may also entail some cleaning and maintenance and attendance on site specific training.

Start Date: 02/11/2026

End Date: 31/08/2027

Working Hours: Schedule to be arranged directly with workers

Pay Rate: £14.27 per hour

Holiday Pay Rate: £1.72 per hour

Location: David Ross Sports Village, UoN

Dress Code: Smart Casual

Duties and responsibilities

  • Deliver climbing sessions as part of the DRSV Climbing Wall programme.
  • Instruct and supervise a wide range of participants, including students, staff, members of the public, and children.
  • Support the delivery of sessions for schools, community groups, and the NICAS Academy programme.
  • Provide a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable climbing experience for all participants.
  • Assist the Climbing Wall Team with general climbing wall operations as required.
  • Support climbing wall maintenance activities, subject to qualifications and experience.
  • Assist with route setting and route management, where qualified and appropriate to do so.
  • Attend and engage with relevant training to support the safe and effective operation of the climbing wall.

Skills and experience

  • Qualified Climbing Wall Instructor or have completed Climbing Wall Instructor Training within last 3 months.
  • Be a passionate climber, friendly and approachable.
  • Able to communicate with a broad range of customers.
  • Happy to work unsupervised or as part of a wider team subject to qualifications and experience.

Additional information
Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check for work with children and vulnerable adults.
