Duties and responsibilities

This role supports the development of the Neuro-Hand system, focusing on building and integrating a motorised upper-limbsupport with EEG sensors and AI-driven control. The intern will assist in hardware design, prototyping, system integration andtesting, ensuring safe and responsive movement aligned with rehabilitation principles for neurological conditions such as FNDand Stroke.Working within a multidisciplinary team (engineering, clinicians, and researchers), the intern will contribute to translating aninnovative rehabilitation concept into a real-world solution. The role offers hands-on experience in medical devicedevelopment, human–machine interaction and immersive rehabilitation technologies.

Skills and experience

The internship is suitable for Level 5–6 undergraduate students with an interest in robotics, electronics, or healthcare technology.

Candidates should have:

  • Good knowledge of electronics, sensors, microcontrollers, actuators, design and embedded systems.
  • Some programming ability, such as Python, C, or C++.
  • An interest in robotics, mechatronics, biomedical engineering, EEG, or rehabilitation technology.
  • Practical problem-solving skills and an ability to support prototyping, testing, and documentation.
  • Good communication, teamwork, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.

Relevant degree subjects include Robotics, Mechatronics, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Embedded Systems. Prior experience with CAD, signal processing, human–machine interaction, or student engineering projects would be advantageous but not essential.
