Duties and responsibilities

The Social Media Manager intern will support the organisationʼs communication and engagement work by creating clear,

accessible, and consistent content across our social media channels. The role exists to strengthen public understanding of our

projects - including The Accessible Guide (TAG 3.0), the Inclusive City Card (ICC), and wider accessibility initiatives - through

effective digital storytelling, video production, and audience engagement.

Main Duties

Content creation. Produce social media posts, graphics, and written content that communicate key messages about TAG 3.0,

ICC, and partner activity.

Video content production. Plan, film, and edit short videos for social media platforms, helping explain concepts, highlight

partners, and showcase accessibility work in an engaging visual format.

Filming and editing. Capture footage using a phone or camera and edit using tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, or CapCut.

Storyboarding. Develop simple visual plans or scripts to ensure video content is structured, purposeful, and easy to follow.

Accessibility compliance. Add captions, alt text, and ensure colour‑contrast and readability across all content, including video.

Content scheduling. Maintain a weekly content calendar to ensure consistent output across platforms.

Brand consistency. Apply our tone of voice, accessibility standards, and visual identity across all content.

Audience engagement. Monitor comments and messages, respond appropriately, and help build an active online community.

Analytics and reporting. Track performance metrics and provide short monthly summaries on reach, engagement, and growth.

Stakeholder storytelling. Produce content that highlights partner organisations, early adopters, and community impact.

Skills and experience

Required Subject Knowledge

Understanding of social media platforms, trends, and audience behaviour.

Awareness of digital communication, content creation, and basic marketing principles.

Interest in accessibility, inclusive communication, or public‑facing community work.

 

 

Key Skills

Digital content creation. Ability to design posts, graphics, and written content suitable for social media.

Video production. Basic skills in filming and editing short videos using tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, or CapCut.

Communication skills. Clear written communication, ability to convey messages simply and effectively.

Organisation and scheduling. Ability to plan and manage a content calendar independently in a remote setting.

Attention to detail. Ensuring accuracy, accessibility compliance, and brand consistency across all content.

Analytical skills. Ability to interpret basic social media metrics and summarise performance.

Experience (Desirable, Not Essential)

Experience creating content for personal, academic, or organisational social media accounts.

Experience using digital tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, CapCut, or similar.

Experience producing short videos for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, or LinkedIn.

Experience working independently or remotely on digital tasks.
