Duties and responsibilities
We are looking for a Technology Support Intern to support the development and improvement of digital systems across our organisation.

The role will work across a number of live projects, helping us use technology, data and digital tools to improve operational efficiency, decision-making and the way we manage materials. The intern will support projects including the development of a collections management app, warehouse management system and other digital tools used across our operations. They will work alongside our existing team to understand requirements, test solutions, identify opportunities for improvement and help implement practical technology solutions. The role sits within our wider innovation and development work, with a particular focus on how digital technology can support more efficient resource management and contribute to our decarbonisation objectives.

Main duties:

  • Support the development, testing and improvement of digital applications and systems.
  • Assist with the development of our collections management app and related digital processes.
  • Support the development and optimisation of warehouse management systems.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve existing processes through technology and automation.
  • Gather requirements from staff and translate operational needs into practical digital solutions.
  • Test new features and systems, identify issues and support troubleshooting.
  • Assist with data collection, analysis and reporting across relevant projects.
  • Help document systems, processes and user requirements.
  • Work with colleagues to improve the usability and effectiveness of digital tools.
  • Research relevant technologies, platforms and approaches that could benefit the organisation.
  • Support other technology and innovation projects as they develop during the internship.

Department context

The role will work closely with colleagues across operations, warehouse management, collections, marketing and project delivery. The intern will have the opportunity to work on real business projects rather than a standalone academic exercise. This will provide practical experience of how technology is used to address operational challenges, improve data and information management, and support more efficient use of resources.

Skills and attributes:

  • Strong interest in technology, data and how digital systems can improve business processes.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work with information accurately.
  • Willingness to learn new systems, software and technologies.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with colleagues across different areas of the business.

No previous professional technology experience is required. Full support and training will be provided, with the role designed to give the successful student practical experience of applying their academic knowledge to live business projects.###
