Role

Sport & Active Life is looking for enthusiastic, reliable and motivated students to support the delivery, promotion and development of the Let's Do Leicester programme. The programme provides a range of casual sport, physical activity, social and wellbeing opportunities for students in a welcoming and inclusive environment. As a Let's Do Leicester Activator, you will help create positive experiences for participants, support activity sessions and events, encourage engagement from a diverse student population and act as a positive ambassador for Sport & Active Life.
 
Hours and days: Usually 2-4 hours per week. Hours will be agreed according to the programme timetable and applicant availability, and may include mornings, afternoons, evenings or weekends.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of Let's Do Leicester sessions, including set-up, pack-down and equipment management. 
  • Welcome participants and help create a safe, friendly, enjoyable and inclusive environment. 
  • Record attendance and support monitoring, evaluation and feedback processes. 
  • Promote Let's Do Leicester activities through events, campaigns, social media and student engagement opportunities. 
  • Support initiatives aimed at increasing participation amongst underrepresented student groups. 
  • Gather participant feedback and share insights with the Sport & Active Life team to support programme development. 
  • Create simple social media, photography or video content where appropriate to help showcase activities and successes. 
  • Represent Sport & Active Life at University events and promotional activities where required. 

Skills and experience
Essential

 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Good organisational skills and time management. 
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Friendly, approachable and enthusiastic attitude. 
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment. 
  • Good knowledge of the University of Leicester student experience. 
  • Willingness to complete all mandatory training. 
Desirable
 
  • Previous ambassador, activator, volunteer or student leadership experience. 
  • Experience in customer service, sport, leisure, physical activity or events. 
  • Experience promoting activities through social media or supporting campaigns. 
  • Photography, videography or content creation skills. 
  • Experience working with diverse communities or underrepresented groups. 
  • Current First Aid qualification. 

Location
University of Leicester Campus and Halls of Residence.
