Role

Our client, a well established cutting edge manufacturer is looking for an intern who will support the Sales Operations function by replacing current manual tracking of customer enquiries, quotations and orders with structured digital tools. The intern will build SharePoint Lists and/or Power Apps to capture and manage sales activity, develop dashboards and KPIs for improved commercial visibility, and identify opportunities to automate the quote-to-order process. The role will help provide clearer insight into sales pipeline activity, quote success rates, small account performance and order progression, supporting better commercial decision-making.
 
The intern will report to the Head of Sales Operations, who is part of the Leadership Team and reports to the Managing Director.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Build SharePoint Lists and/or Power Apps to capture and manage customer enquiries, quotations and orders.
  • Replace manual sales tracking processes with structured digital data capture and reporting tools.
  • Develop dashboards and KPIs using Power BI and/or Excel to improve visibility of sales activity, order status and quote-to-order performance.
  • Track and report on quote success rates, small account performance and sales/order trends.
  • Identify opportunities to automate stages of the quote-to-order process using appropriate digital tools.
  • Ensure captured data feeds into dashboards to support commercial reporting and decision-making.
  • Work with the Head of Sales Operations and relevant team members to understand current processes, data requirements and improvement opportunities.
  • Document processes, dashboard outputs and recommendations for future improvements.

Skills and experience

 
ESSENTIAL: 
  • Good digital skills and confidence working with data.
  • Ability to organise information clearly and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Interest in sales operations, process improvement and automation.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders to understand requirements.

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience or awareness of Microsoft 365 tools such as SharePoint, Power Apps, Power BI and Excel.
  • Understanding of dashboards, KPIs or data visualisation.
  • Awareness of sales, quotation or order management processes.
  • Interest in digital transformation within a manufacturing or commercial environment.
