Role

We are looking for a caring, organised and reliable Dispensary Reception & Administration Assistant to join a busy healthcare environment. The successful candidate will provide a welcoming and professional service to patients while supporting the dispensary team with reception, administration, stock control and prescription-related duties.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, has strong attention to detail and can work effectively as part of a team. There is potential for the right candidate to develop within the business and be offered further work.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist patients at the dispensary reception desk in a professional, friendly and compassionate manner.
  • Take prescription instructions from patients and safely hand out completed prescriptions in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provide patients with relevant paperwork and assist with booking appointments for medication/drug reviews and blood tests.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls to the dispensary and deal with patient enquiries appropriately, referring queries to the relevant member of the team where necessary.
  • Send text messages to patients to notify them when their prescriptions are ready for collection.
  • Receive and unload incoming stock deliveries.
  • Maintain effective stock control, ensuring shelves are appropriately stocked, organised and clearly maintained.
  • Keep the dispensary, reception and stock areas clean, tidy and organised.
  • Assist with prescription administration, including storing prescriptions correctly and placing them into the appropriate payment and signature trays.
  • Follow all relevant procedures relating to patient confidentiality, data protection and the secure handling of patient information.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure the dispensary operates efficiently and patients receive a high standard of service.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support the dispensary team.

  • Able to understand and maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive patient information.
  • A strong team player who is willing to support colleagues and contribute to a positive working environment.
  • Reliable, professional and able to follow established procedures and instructions.
  • Comfortable working in a busy environment where priorities can change throughout the day.
