Unitemps are recruiting for a Teaching and Learning Administrator. This role has an asap start date (on or soon after September 8th) and a projected end date of December 12th. This is a full-time role at 36.5 hours per week. Payment is set at £20.57 per hour + £3.85 holiday pay. This role is UCL hybrid working with 2-3 days per week from campus and the other days from home/remote. 
 
University College London (UCL) is a multi-faculty college of the University of London with a population of over 36,000 students. The Department of Security & Crime Science (DSCS) is the first university department in the world devoted to Crime Science. Research is concentrated on new ways to cut crime, drawing upon a variety of disciplines across the social, physical and life sciences.
 
The post holder will join our Teaching and Learning team who are responsible for the department’s undergraduate programme and postgraduate programmes, some of which are available through distance learning.

Duties and responsibilities

Under the direction of the Senior Teaching and Learning Administrator and in conjunction with relevant academic staff, the postholder will provide specialist administration to the designated teaching programmes. This post will assist in achieving a high quality and timely service to current and prospective students, and staff relating to the designated courses/programmes and beyond. 
 
The role will provide support for all matters relating to the teaching and learning activities of students, in particular in helping the department prepare for the new academic year. They will also support with current and prospective student enquiries, committee servicing and processes relating to assessment, student and course records. 
 
The role holder must be efficient, organised and take great care in attention to detail; be able to respond to queries and address circumstances in a timely and supportive manner, focusing on the students’ learning experience and maintaining an awareness of student wellbeing matters. In addition, the role requires interaction with many people within and external to UCL thus a professional attitude, willingness to help and a positive outlook are required in order to adequately execute the duties outlined.

Skills and experience

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (Including Mathematics and English Language) or equivalent, or having acquired relevant experience.
  • Educated to A level standard, or equivalent experience such as report writing.
  • Administration in higher/further education or a teaching and learning environment.
  • Course/Programme administration.
  • Computer literate, including Word, Excel, Outlook, email and internet., Essential
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills (including accurate grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of people, including the ability to relate to staff and students in a teaching and learning context.
  • Ability to deal with high volumes of processing, prioritising and organising own workload.
  • Ability to work accurately and with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Be willing and able to learn and use new systems quickly, including UCL specific systems such as Portico.
  • Commitment to high quality service provision.
  • Taking proactive steps where you see an opportunity to fulfil a need.
  • Responding to colleague, student and partner needs with the intention to provide an excellent service.

  • During peaks of workload in respect of admissions/beginning of courses/programmes etc., the role holder will be required to work additional hours, including weekend working. Over time or time off in lieu will be arranged to compensate.
  • Knowledge of entrance requirements and/or familiarity with UK/Overseas qualifications
