Role
We are recruiting content creators to create user-generated content (UGC) for Heriot-Watt’s social media channels. For this role, we are only accepting applications from students who are studying at our Edinburgh campus. 

The role holder will work closely with the Content and Social Media team, as well as the wider Marketing and Communication teams, to plan, create, and publish original high-quality content (posts, videos, reels, blogs) that increase awareness of Heriot-Watt University, student life, the City of Edinburgh to help encourage prospective students to engage with the university.

Duties and responsibilities
The primary focus of this role is to help create visual content that can be used across marketing platforms and social media channels to highlight the school’s profile. Working with the Content and Social Media team, the role holder will act as brand champion for the University and be responsible for creating, editing and publishing regular content – covering a variety of topics including campus life, school facilities, programmes, day-in-the-life, the city of Edinburgh, as well as ad-hoc university and cultural events. Acting as brand champion for the University. 

This role will be paid per piece of content. 

Skills and experience

  1. Understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and be up-to-date with trending content 
  2. Experience in producing engaging visual content for digital channels. 
  3. Strong writing, editing and communication skills. 
  4. Ability to work with marketing professionals and manage workload.
