Role
A student support role focused on wellbeing, attendance, reasonable adjustments and helping students access the support they need.
Duties and responsibilities
- Supporting with student attendance monitoring and visa compliance.
- Supporting with the distribution and implementation of Student Support Plans for reasonable adjustments in assessments and in class.
- Provide guidance and support to students in relation to their Student Support Plans (SSPs) and reasonable adjustments, helping them to understand how these apply within the context of their course and ensuring they can effectively access the support available.
- Participating in delivering Welcome Induction events.
- Responding to student enquiries relating to wellbeing with adequate signposting.
- Working in partnership with specialist services to ensure students are supported appropriately.
- Maintain accurate records and systems to support engagement monitoring, reporting, and compliance requirements (e.g. SEAtS, eAttend, where applicable).
Skills and experience
- Effectively plan and prioritise a varied workload.
- Confident in using Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and Word.
- Experience of using record systems to access data and record notes.
- Apply policies and procedures consistently while recognising when flexibility or referral is required.
- Empathetic communication style when dealing with sensitive matters.
- Understanding of GDPR compliance.
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with students, academic colleagues, and professional services staff, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Understanding of wellbeing issues that impact students.
