THE ROLE
We're looking for enthusiastic, friendly and organised individuals to join the Talent 25 team as Public Engagement & Creative Assistants. You'll support the delivery of inspiring creative workshops across Leicester, helping children and families take part in engaging arts and cultural experiences as part of an exciting research programme.

The role will start as as soon as possible with an expected end date of 31/03/2027.
The working hours will be sessional and to be agreed.

Duties and responsibilities

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in working with children, young people or families, who enjoys working in a people-focused environment and thrives as part of a collaborative team. In return, you'll gain valuable experience supporting a university-led public engagement programme, work alongside creative practitioners, and play an important role in delivering meaningful experiences for local families.If you're enthusiastic, adaptable and want to be part of an inspiring project that brings creativity into communities, we'd love to hear from you.
 

  • Transportation of creative materials to and from venues (transport is provided).
  • Setting up the venue and working area as directed by the facilitating artist and packing away after sessions.
  • Meeting and greeting families on arrival and supporting with practical matters such as stowing of prams, accessing baby change facilities, locating taxi pick up points.  
  • Taking of registers and monitoring attendance at sessions. 
  • Supporting the delivery of creative sessions (as directed by facilitating artist) to help families engage safely with the activity.
  • Be a friendly, welcoming, and approachable point of contact for families to enable them to feel safe and secure when engaging with the sessions.
  • Provide feedback to the wider Talent 25 programme team about the sessions.
  • Follow all Talent 25 and DMU policies in relation to safeguarding, health and safety and GDPR and data protection.
  • Attend ad-hoc training and meetings with the wider Talent 25 programme team. 

Skills and experience

Skills and experience: previous experience working with children, families and young people preferred, as well as demonstrable interest and appreciation for creative and cultural activities

  • Excellent communications and organisational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task while showing commitment to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Able to travel around Leicester to venues/sessions.
  • Ability to work weekends or evenings
  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to identify and escalate potential issues.
  • Strong cross-functional experience with the ability to work across multiple teams and functions
  • Ability to work at pace in an agile way and meet deadlines.
The ideal candidate will be a team worker with excellent interpersonal skills and an understanding of GDPR and ethical research processes.
