Description
Role
The purpose of the Co-ordinator roles is to direct, lead and support the activities of a group of volunteers engaged in the Vikings for Schools programmes. The Co-ordinators will work with volunteers to deliver engaging and
informed workshops to visiting primary school groups, keep accurate records, attend training sessions, and adapt existing workshop material where required.

End Date: 25/06/2025
Working Hours: To be confirmed by the Hiring Manager
Pay Rate: £17.02 per hour
Holiday Pay Rate: £2.05 per hour
Location: University of Nottingham / Various locations on University Park
Dress Code: Smart CasualDuties and responsibilities
- Work with volunteers to deliver engaging and informed workshops on the University Campus to visiting groups from local primary schools
- Keep accurate records relating to volunteers, participating schools, and teachers’ details, as well as monitoring the equipment inventory and the equipment itself
- Ensure that all volunteers attend training and agree to the terms and conditions of the project (particularly with regard to health and safety and use of equipment as outlined in Equipment Safety Document and Conditions of Loan).
- Adapt existing workshop plans with volunteers where required
- Ensure that appropriate communication channels are established and maintained with the students in the group, the individual schools involved, the School of English and the Director of Vikings for Schools for Schools.
Skills and experience
· Prior study of the Vikings at University level, e.g. Studied at least one Viking/Old Norse module, ideally at Level 3 or above
· Excellent leadership, interpersonal and verbal communications skills.
· Previous experience as a Vikings for Schools volunteer
