Description

Role
This role will support the delivery of Student Development's Welcome Week events/activities and provide administrative support for both the Course Buddies and Community Volunteering programmes.

Duties and responsibilities

Course Buddies:

  • Support the delivery of Welcome Week events and activities.
  • Process applications from student mentees to be matched with Course Buddy mentors.
  • Supervise Course Buddy Leaders (student ambassadors) during Welcome events, promotional activity, and the management of shifts/timesheets.

Community Volunteering:

  • Manage and develop the community volunteering brokerage website and ensure a range of opportunities are available.
  • Deliver one-to-one appointments with students, supporting them through volunteering and mentoring journeys.
  • Maintain and develop external links with voluntary organisations, community groups, alumni, and employers.

Skills and experience

  • Experience of working or studying at a Higher Education institution.
  • Excellent organisational ability with strong planning skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet competing deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with people at different levels, together with emotional intelligence and sensitivity to the needs of others.
  • Can work collaboratively and communicates effectively with colleagues, demonstrates a proactive, can-do attitude and takes ownership of tasks where appropriate.
  • Creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to self-motivate and seek opportunities to improve service provision.
