Description

Role

To deliver and develop Team Warwick Performance (TWP) Sports teams programme and enhance the overall student experience for our student athletes within the Team Warwick scholarship programme.

To work in conjunction with the Performance Sport Manager and wider performance team in supporting the continuous improvement of the Performance Sport Programme at Warwick.

To support the planning and delivery, as well as lead the administration of all areas of the Performance Sport Programme, to ensure smooth day to day functionality and a high-quality student athlete experience.

Duties and responsibilities

Customer Experience

  • To deliver high-quality accessible programmes and sessions across the Performance Sport Programme, which supports the development of TWP teams.
  • To accurately track and report key data from Performance Sport programme delivery, and supplement this with accurate feedback from all stakeholders to aid improvements and developments
  • To work with other individuals within Warwick Sport to provide support for Department events such as Open Days and the Sports Fair.

Club and Performance Sport Responsibilities

  • To lead the team’s work on reporting, monitoring and evaluation of the Performance Sport Programme and Club Development Programme, including athlete and club feedback wherever possible.
  • To proactively and independently act as the conduit between athletes and their academic tutors to support our Dual Career approach to academia and sport.
  • To communicate regularly with all sports scholarship athletes and teams on the Performance Sport Programme about any issues or areas related to Performance Sport.
  • To be the first point of contact for recruitment enquiries related to the Performance Sport Programme and for all athletes and teams on the performance programme.
  • Through enquiries, open days and specifically targeted events collect details of potential student athletes that fit the profile of a University of Warwick Performance Sport student and communicate professionally and effectively with these individuals to attempt to recruit them to Warwick.    
  • To lead the organisation of social events throughout the year for athletes on the Team Warwick Performance Programme, to celebrate success and build a sense of community within the programme.
  • To place and manage any orders for the Performance Sport Programme, and in particular the orders for support services provided to student athletes.
  • To ensure that all programmes, sessions and events within the Performance Sport Programme are in line with the department normal operating procedures and that relevant risk assessments that have carried out.
  • To support the Performance Sport Manager in the application process of both the Team Warwick Performance Programme and the Scholarship programme, pro-actively working with interested clubs prior to submission of their applications.
  • To undertake any other duties and responsibilities in line with the grade of the post as directed by the Performance Sport Manager.
  • To process all bursary payments for Scholarship athletes through university financial procedures and processes.
  • To support the organisation of all athlete support service delivery.
  • To lead the coordination of athlete Lifestyle Support
  • To liaise with the physiotherapy clinic on site to ensure smooth delivery and accurate reporting
  • To support the Performance Sport and scholarship athlete induction processes

Marketing and Communications

  • To work with the marketing team in the promotion and marketing of the Performance Sport Programme to the whole university community.
  • To support the marketing team and members of the delivery team in keeping the website and social media avenues updated with relevant content.
  • To support the production of Performance Sport Programme promotional material.

Skills and experience
Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent industry experience.
Previous Experience
  • Experience of organising events.
  • Experience of working within Performance Sport or a Sport Development environment (Desirable)
  • Experience of independently dealing with competing requests and deadlines..
  • Experience of working within HE and / or a student sport environment (Desirable)
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office, Leisure Management Systems or equivalent systems
  • Previous experience of working in Higher Education. (Desirable)
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of a broad range of sports and their requirements. (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of Performance Sport, including an understanding of NGB Talent Pathways, Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS).
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Project Management Experience  (Desirable)
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, administrative and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment. .
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work on own initiative.
  • Willingness to undertake further training relevant to the role.
