THE ROLE

Working within People Services, this role will undertake specialist human resources administration work for the, People Operations teams supporting local and university-wide projects and activities.

The role is working full time 37 hours on a hybrid basis- You will start as soon as possible with a current end date of 30/09/26

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to HR teams, including confidential project work, research, and liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Update and maintain HR content on the Connect intranet in partnership with subject matter experts.
  • Produce and support professional internal and external reports, presentations, and ensure templates are up to date.
  • Support the Staff Review Group by:
    • Administering PAFs, CAFs, and related documentation for senior staff.
    • Liaising with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of panel meetings.
  • Prepare and draft correspondence, publications, and presentations as required.
  • Provide ad hoc financial administration, including raising purchase orders using SAP.
  • Carry out other duties appropriate to the role and grade as required.

General Responsibilities

  • Contribute to improving environmental performance and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by following the university's Environmental Policy.
  • Deliver services in line with the Equality Act 2010 by promoting equality, diversity, inclusion, and eliminating unlawful discrimination.
  • Comply with all university health and safety policies and complete mandatory training.
  • Help maintain a safe working environment for staff, students, and visitors.
  • Report accidents and dangerous incidents promptly through the university's reporting system.

Skills and experience

Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.

Experience

  • Significant experience providing administrative support within a busy office environment.
  • Experience of undertaking desk-based research.
  • Experience of providing administrative support to projects.
  • Experience of financial administration, including:
    • Purchasing.
    • Raising purchase orders.
    • Processing invoices.
    • Interrogating data.
    • Using SAP or another electronic finance system.

Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage conflicting demands while meeting deadlines and maintaining professionalism.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Strong digital skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams (or equivalent).
  • Diplomacy, political awareness, and the ability to handle sensitive issues confidentially.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
