Role
Unitemps are recruiting for a Policy Officer within the Institute for Global Health department. The role is to work the date of 1st September 2026 and will run until 30th October 2026 part time at 14.6 hours per week. Payment is set at £20.92+ holiday pay per hour and the role will be HOME based.
Duties and responsibilities
The Policy Officer will support the development and delivery of policy-focused outputs for The Lancet Countdown in the lead-up to the 2026 Report launch. Working closely with the policy and communications teams, the postholder will help translate complex country-level data and evidence into accessible, audience-focused policy products that support engagement with policymakers, government stakeholders, and partners. The role will contribute to ensuring that Lancet Countdown findings are communicated clearly, consistently, and effectively to inform policy action on climate change and health.
- Support the development of country-level policy products aligned with The Lancet Countdown 2026 Report
- Translate complex climate and health data into clear, concise, and policy-relevant content for non-technical audiences using agreed template formats.
- Contribute to the drafting, review, and quality assurance of policy products to ensure accuracy, consistency and accessibility.
- Ensure outputs align with Lancet Countdown branding, messaging, and strategic priorities.
Skills and experience
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and succinctly for policy audiences.
- Proficiency in Canva to develop visually engaging policy products using established templates and brand guidelines
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and international teams
- Undergraduate degree in science communications, public policy, public health, environmental policy, international development, political science, or a related field
- Experience supporting policy, research, public affairs, or evidence-to-policy projects
- Experience synthesising research findings and translating evidence into audience-focused outputs
