Role

The School of Business, Computing and Social Sciences is seeking a creative and detail-oriented student to support the production of a professional booklet showcasing the University's postgraduate research offer. 

Working closely with senior academic staff, the successful candidate will transform existing content into an attractive publication that will be shared with external partners and international visitors. 

The role combines marketing communications, graphic design, content presentation, and project coordination skills. This is an excellent opportunity for a marketing, business, communications, media, graphic design or related student to gain professional experience developing a high-profile marketing resource for a university audience.

Duties and responsibilities
The successful student will: 

  • Develop a professionally designed booklet promoting the postgraduate research offer within BCSS. 
  • Review and organise existing content provided by academic staff. 
  • Create a coherent visual identity and layout for the booklet. 
  • Source and incorporate suitable university-approved images and visual assets. 
  • Work with academic colleagues to identify and include examples of current doctoral research projects. 
  • Obtain and incorporate approved student/researcher profile photographs where available. 
  • Ensure consistency of design, branding, tone and formatting throughout the publication. 
  • Produce draft versions for review and amend in response to feedback.
  • Prepare a final publication-ready version for digital distribution and print if required. Liaise with project leads regarding deadlines and progress updates.
 

Skills and experience

Essential:

  • Current University of Gloucestershire student. 
  • Studying Marketing, Business, Communications, Media, Graphic Design, Creative Advertising, Digital Marketing or a related discipline.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.Experience using presentation, design or publishing software (e.g. Canva, Adobe Express, InDesign, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to interpret a brief and produce professional marketing materials.Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Experience creating brochures, prospectuses, magazines or promotional materials.
  • Understanding of university marketing and student recruitment communications.
  • Basic photography or image-editing skills.
  • Experience working with brand guidelines.
  • Awareness of postgraduate education and research programmes.
