Role

As a Student Guide you will actively engage in developing activities that facilitate the smooth transition of students into university. You will serve as a point of contact for students seeking advice from a peer perspective. You should demonstrate professionalism and a clear understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding requirements. Strong IT skills, effective communication with individuals of varying ages and roles within the University, time management and team working abilities are essential. You should possess a thorough understanding of and actively promote the principles of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). You should value and appreciate cultural issues, fostering an inclusive and equitable environment within the University community.

 

Start Date: 1/09/2026

End Date: 31/08/2027Working Hours: To be confirmed by the Hiring Manager

Pay Rate: £14.27 per hour

Holiday Pay Rate: £1.72 per hour 

Location: University of Nottingham/ Jubilee Campus

Dress Code: Smart Casual 

Duties and responsibilities

As a Nottingham University Business School second or final year student, you will work closely with Academic Guides, UG course teams, Amy Chappell: Senior Operations Officer (Tutoring), and wider Education and Student Experience (ESE) contributing to a multidisciplinary team. You will be actively involved in developing engagement activities and will serve as a point of contact for students seeking advice from a peer perspective. Additionally, you will be required to support the school in wider events such as: Support with Welcome Week Activities Open and Offer Holder Days Community Building Events ESE Governance Student Survey Promotion Events- NSS, NLES

Skills and experience
 Current undergraduate student in Nottingham University Business School studying on one of the following courses: BSc Accountancy, BSc Finance, Accounting and Management (with placement year included), BSc Management or International Management (with placement year included) BSc Industrial Economics (with Insurance & placement year included) Skills and experience required for the role: Currently enrolled as a second or final-year undergraduate student with Nottingham University Business School. 

-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with fellow students, staff and other stakeholders. 
-Strong organisational and time-management abilities to coordinate activities, manage workload and meet deadlines. 
-Evidence of knowledge of EDI principles and cultural issues within a university setting. 
-IT proficiency, including proficiency in relevant software applications for record-keeping and communication purposes. 
-Professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding guidelines. -Empathy, approachability, and the ability to provide guidance and support from a peer perspective. 
-Active involvement in student societies or student union activities as required. 
-Understanding of University systems and resources, as well as the ability to navigate them effectively. 
-Flexibility and adaptability to work with individuals of different backgrounds, ages, and roles within the University
