Description

Role

To assist in the management of data on clinical trials carried out within the Warwick Clinical Trials Unit. 

To ensure that data is entered onto the database within appropriate timescales; dispatch paper forms, as necessary; contact research sites and participants to encourage return of their complete data and query any missingness; and ensure that all documentation is filed effectively. 

To support the trial management team in the preparation of materials for use by sites, participants and WCTU colleagues.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Post and coordinate receipt of questionnaires and other data. 
  • Track, clean and enter trial data. Identifying and resolving any missing, incomplete, or contradictory items. 
  • Monitor data entered remotely, by research sites or participants, for completeness and accuracy. 
  • Communicate with research sites including clinical investigators, research support staff and participants to facilitate data collection and query resolution to follow up missing data, including follow up by email and telephone.  
  • Maintain and develop electronic and manual filing. Review and implement revised systems where appropriate and in accordance with standard operating procedures, guidance, and regulations. 
  • Develop and maintain guidance documents to ensure adherence, continuity, and consistency as well as aid training and support handover during any periods of absence.  
  • Any other duties (e.g., routine clerical tasks, minute taking, organising meetings, distribution of materials to research sites) as may be required under the supervision of the Clinical Trial Coordinator or Manager.

Skills and experience

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with Maths and English of Grade C/4 or above.
  • Proven data management experience. 
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically with excellent attention to detail. 
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office. 
  • Excellent standard of written English. 
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team. 
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with ability to communicate with a range of people. 
  • A good understanding of why it is important to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Willingness and flexibility to adjust to changing requirements in a challenging.

Desirable: 

  • A-Level education or equivalent. 
  • Experience of working in healthcare or research environment. 
  • Interest in clinical trials and medical research.
