Role
Unitemps are acting as an Employment Business, supplying temporary workers, in relation to this vacancy.
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable University of Nottingham students to support the smooth running of the Nottingham Graduation ceremonies in July 2026. As a Gowning Assistant, you will play an important role in helping graduates prepare for their ceremony and ensuring they have a positive experience.
Start Date: 21/07/26
End Date: 30/07/26
Working Hours:
21st – 10:30-17:00
22nd – 09:30 – 16:30
23rd, 24th, 25th, 27th, 28th, 29th – 08:00-17:00
30th – 08:00-18:00
Pay Rate: £12.75 an hour
Location: David Ross Sports Village
Dress Code: Smart Casual

Duties and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Assist graduates with fitting and correctly wearing academic gowns, hoods, and hats.
- Monitor, tidy, and restock the dressing area to ensure an efficient flow of students.
- Provide general support to the wider graduation operations team as required.
- Deliver friendly, professional customer service to students, staff, and guests.
- Maintain high standards of organisation and presentation in busy periods.
Full training will be provided during set up of the event.
Skills and experience
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable manner.
- Strong teamwork abilities, collaborating effectively with colleagues in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure, particularly during peak periods of the event.
- Confident interacting with large numbers of graduands and guests.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions carefully.
- Comfortable carrying out tasks that involve heavy lifting, such as moving boxes and gowns.
- Positive attitude and willingness to support a variety of operational tasks.
