The role of football activator is an exciting opportunity to be part of the rapidly developing intramural programme run at LJMU. The intramural football programme operates through the Student Living and Physical Activity Department.
The programme provides a fun, social and welcoming environment for anyone wanting to participate in football regardless of their abilities, whilst also providing a secondary option for those unsuccessful during the JMSU football trials.
As part of this commitment to increasing participation within football across our student and staff populations, the Student Living and Physical Activity Department are recruiting Football Activators to help organise, officiate and coordinate football sessions, whilst ensuring an enjoyable and encouraging environment.
Duties and responsibilities
We also wish to support you in your development through providing various training, therefore enhancing your skill set and by association improving your future employability opportunities.
Liaise with the Duty Officer (participation) and Physical Wellbeing and Engagement Manager regarding any issues or concerns.
- Umpire weekly Wednesday afternoon fixtures between 12-4pm.
- Ensure the efficient and effective operation of matchdays.
- Operate the league through BUCS‘ Playwaze e.g. results, fixtures etc.
Skills and experience
To be successful as a Football Activator, you will need:
- Enthusiasm towards developing participation within football
- Confidence in officiating football
- Willingness to complete relevant development qualifications offered
- The ability to make decisions under pressure, especially during Wednesday afternoon fixtures
- Excellent communication skills, including listening, questioning and delivering effective feedback and the ability to quickly build trust and rapport with customers
- The ability to motivate and inspire others
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- Understanding of relevant health and safety legislation, and the ability to exercise these in the workplace
