The appointed person will be expected to make broad contributions to the Research and Innovation Services by supporting the delivery of the Enhancing Research Cultures Fund (ERCF) project: “Bridging the Gap: Supporting the Transition from Funding to Project Delivery”.

The post holder will support work designed to improve the experience of researchers and Project Leads during the transition from funding award through to project delivery. 

The role will contribute to improving research culture through developing more integrated and accessible processes, guidance and support resources.

 

Duties and responsibilities

To support the development and implementation of a standardised framework and toolkit for research project setup and delivery at LJMU. 

The post holder will work with academic and professional services colleagues to gather information, map existing processes, identify improvements and contribute to the development of practical resources that support Project Leads across the research lifecycle.

  • Support the mapping and analysis of existing project setup and delivery processes across research-related services and functions.
  • Undertake data gathering activities, including questionnaires, surveys and stakeholder interviews with academic and professional services colleagues.
  • Assist in the organisation and delivery of project kick-off meetings and workshops involving researchers and support teams.
  • Support the development of standardised project setup resources, guidance documentation and workflow tools.
  • Contribute to the creation of a Project Lead toolkit and associated support materials.
  • Assist with pilot activities and collect feedback to evaluate effectiveness and identify improvements.
  • Produce reports and summaries of findings and recommendations.
  • Liaise with stakeholders across Research and Innovation Services, Finance, Human Resources and academic faculties.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records.

Skills and experience

Essential Factors Evidence

  • Current postgraduate student or graduate in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Ability to gather, analyse and interpret qualitative and quantitative information
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders 
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce reports and guidance materials 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office applications

Desirable Factors Evidence

  • Experience of supporting research administration or projects 
  • Understanding of research funding or research lifecycle processes 
  • Experience of conducting surveys, interviews or focus groups 
  • Knowledge of higher education or research environments  
  • Experience of process mapping or workflow development
