Description
Role
To provide a friendly, professional, and consistent service that supports the smooth day-to-day operation of the café. The role involves preparing and serving hot drinks, reheating and serving food, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety, and creating a welcoming environment for customers.
Duties and responsibilities
- Greet customers in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner.
- Prepare and serve hot beverages, including tea, coffee, and other café drinks, in accordance with company standards.
- Reheat and serve food items using the Merrychef oven and bain-marie, following all food safety procedures and training provided.
- Ensure food is prepared, handled, stored, and served safely at all times.
- Monitor food temperatures and follow procedures for high-risk foods.
- Clean and maintain workstations, equipment, utensils, and customer areas in accordance with cleaning schedules and training provided.
- Assist with receiving, checking, and storing deliveries.
- Organise, rotate, and replenish food and beverage stock in storage and service areas.
- Follow all food safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and presentation.
- Adhere to company policies regarding sickness reporting, exclusion periods, uniform standards, mobile phone use, and workplace conduct.
- Report any food safety, hygiene, maintenance, or health and safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor
- Work cooperatively with colleagues to ensure the café remains clean, safe, and welcoming throughout the day
Skills and experience
- Food hygiene and food safety experience (preferred but not essential).
- Barista experience (preferred but not essential).
- Previous experience is not essential, as full training will be provided.
- We are looking for someone with a willingness to learn, adapt, and uphold high standards of food safety in all aspects of the role
