Description

Role

As a Catering Assistant, you will support the day-to-day running of food service operations, helping to prepare and serve food, maintain cleanliness, and deliver excellent customer service. Working as part of a team, you will ensure a high standard of hygiene and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Start Date: 13/07/2026

End Date: 01/09/2026

Working Hours: Various flexible shifts available: 5 days out of 7, including weekends (4.30pm–7.30pm) and weekdays (7.30am–10.30am & 5.00pm–8.00pm), depending on business needs

Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour

Holiday Pay Rate: £1.62 per hour

Location: Jubilee Campus, University of Nottingham, Wollaton Road, NG8 1BB

Duties and responsibilities

  • Serving food to customers
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene (following food safety standards)
  • Operating tills
  • Ensuring dining and service areas are tidy and welcoming
  • Supporting the team during busy service period

Skills and experience

 Desirable Skills Include (Fast-Paced, High-Volume Catering): 

  • Experience working in a busy, high-volume catering or food production environment
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Awareness of food safety and hygiene standards in large-scale catering
  • Confidence handling high customer volumes during peak service times
  • Good teamwork skills in a fast-moving kitchen or service setting
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise workload effectively

Full training provided – we're looking for people with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
