Role
We are looking for enthusiastic and approachable students with excellent communication and organisational skills to join our amazing Student Centre team for the 2026/27 academic year.
Our Student Centres combine a wide range of advice, guidance, and library support services. Alongside the introduction of our digital assistant, Nova, and our specialist services, the Student Centres are part of the student support model aimed at enhancing the student experience. There are two centres located at Francis Close Hall and Oxstalls campuses.
This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a service that significantly impacts the student journey at the University of Gloucestershire. Duties and responsibilities
Here/s what you'll do:
- Support Student Centre's - Help fellow students with advice, guidance, and library support.
- Promote Nova - Spread the word about our digital assistant, Nova.
- Customer Service - Provide a friendly, customer-focused service in person and refer tasks to the Student Centre Team.
- Communication - Share key messages about student support services with students and colleagues.
- Induction Week - Welcome new students during induction week, help manage queues, and answer general enquiries.
- Shelve returned items correctly.
- Keep the book collection organised and tidy.
- Help students with photocopiers, printers, and self-service stations.
- Maintain Library & Student Centre Space.
Skills and experience
- A current University of Gloucestershire student – you will need to be a current student between Sept 2026 - July 2027
- Able to offer great customer service – we're looking for friendly, approachable people who have good problem-solving skills and are empathetic, compassionate and inclusive.
- A great communicator – the Student Centre Assistants will deal with a range of enquiries and will be able to offer advice and help to resolve issues. There will be liaison with staff to find solutions to individual enquiries.
- Organised, with attention to detail – you will be proactive in ensuring our book stock is where it needs to be so students can find what they need, ensure the library environment is safe for visitors and assist in the maintenance of equipment in the centres.
- Flexible – Our Student Centres are based across our FCH and Oxstalls campuses, and Student Centre Assistants will need to be able to travel flexibly between the two as needed. Your shifts won't get in the way of your lectures – but we do ask for flexibility in being able to cover your fellow Assistants shifts on occasion to ensure an adequate level of service for our students.
